The Bienvenu Endowments
An anonymous donor who took evening classes for several years with the late Rev. Emmett M. Bienvenu, S.J., was so inspired by his teachings in ancient Greek poetry-- that they established several generous endowments as an expression of appreciation for the topic and a tribute to his memory. These endowments include a scholarship, research fund, professorship and university chair, all named for Fr. Bienvenu. The Bienvenu funds are used to support classical studies at Loyola. "Classical studies is a small but mighty program at Loyola and is an integral part of a Jesuit, liberal arts education," says Dean Maria Calzada.
